In person at the Medical Society of London and on Zoom

Quentin Letts describes the work as follows:

“The novel is about the prophet Simeon who was told by an angel to wait at the temple in Jerusalem until he had clapped eyes on the Messiah. He would not die until then. When he picked up the infant Christ into his arms he broke into the words ‘Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace’ – the Nunc Dimittis, as it is known.

“The book is in part a homage to the Don Camillo stories of Giovanni Guareschi, in part a tribute to my late brother.

“It is sad in places. In other parts it is possibly more like The Life of Brian.”

The Medical Society of London, 11 Chandos Street, Cavendish Square, London W1G 9EB, is about seven minutes’ walk from Oxford Circus Tube Station.
